Sacred History & Legend

Located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir is one of the most beloved and visited Ganesha temples in the world. Originally consecrated in 1801 by Deubai Patil, a childless woman who wished that all barren women might be blessed with children through the deity. The presiding idol is carved out of a single piece of black stone, 2.5 feet tall and 2 feet wide, with Ganesha’s trunk turning to the right (Navasacha Ganapati). Flanked by Goddesses Riddhi and Siddhi, signifying prosperity, wisdom, and auspicious completion of all endeavors. The temple trust operates large-scale philanthropic projects including dialysis centers, cancer patient relief, educational book banks, and disaster rescue funds.
